Tabling opportunities used to mean meeting new international students on campus. We’d be at the ISC Table helping them find classes, meet new friends, chat about upcoming trips and events… it was great. Tabling opportunities now mean, because we can’t meet with students, we are tabling opportunities… putting them on hold until it’s safe again.
Of course not all opportunities are tabled. ISC is still having numerous events, activities, ESL classes, food distribution and more… they are just all virtual right now . But we’re holding out hope and preparing for the day when we can personally help international students thrive at Arizona State University. Our friendship club has been personally helping students from all over the world for the past 37 years… and we’re getting ready to begin welcoming ALL international students and scholars back to the new normal.
Holding out hope for ISC means we spend lots of time on Zoom :). We persevere in letting students know we having caring student leaders, volunteers and advisors available with resources to help them when they need it. Holding out hope means we help the ASU Counseling Dept. by hosting International Students Spiritual Support Circle every Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Most of all, holding out hope means we live our lives as followers of Jesus. In the Bible we see Him loving, serving and giving to everyone. He gave everything so that we could have hope… and hold it out for others.
